Nathan Wells enters his sixth season as a member of the UW-Whitewater track and field coaching staff for the 2022-23 season, specializing in pole vaulting. He has demonstrated exceptional coaching prowess, notably mentoring two All-Americans in the pole vault in 2019, including Zach Jasinski, who clinched UW-Whitewater's first pole vault national championship since 1984 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Wells brings a wealth of coaching experience from his tenure at Stevens Point Area Senior High School, Kenosha Bradford High School, Oregon High School in Wisconsin, and Caledonia High School in Minnesota, primarily focusing on high jump and pole vault. A graduate of UW-Platteville, Wells was a standout athlete, placing second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and qualifying nationally in the decathlon in 2006. Notably, he served two years in Iraq as a member of the military during his college years. A Marshall, Wis., native, Wells balances his coaching endeavors with his role as an environmental engineer for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, residing in the Madison area.
