Jeremy Dye

Girls Cross Country Coach, Kingwood High School

Now in his 24th year of coaching and teaching English, Dye ran cross country at Brazoswood High School and at Stephen F. Austin State, where he was the 1998 Southland Conference steeplechase champion and a nine-time All-American/All-Conference honoree.

He began coaching as a graduate assistant at Southwest Texas (Texas State), then moved through middle school coaching, Kempner High School and Seven Lakes as assistant coach (back-to-back district titles, two regional titles, state runner-up). In 2013 he helped open Katy Tompkins High School, building the program to a state appearance within four years. He was named Gulf Coast Scholastic Track Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year in 2010.

At Kingwood High School, where he now coaches girls' cross country, his teams have made seven state appearances, including runner-up in 2019 and third place in 2022; he was 2022 6A Coach of the Year. After early struggles adapting to Kingwood's existing training system, including a rough 2017 season disrupted by Hurricane Harvey and a subsequent year missing state for the first time since roughly 1986, Dye returned to the training philosophy from his Seven Lakes/Tompkins years, and the team finished state runner-up the following season. His daughter now runs on the team.
