Mary Foster - Beginner Throws: Coaches Coaching Beginner Discus

Description

Coaching beginner discus throwers but not sure where to start?

This course is designed specifically for new and developing throws coaches who want a clear, practical system for teaching discus safely and effectively. Mary Foster breaks down the four essential concepts that drive successful discus performance: separation, power generation, energy transfer, and maximum radius.

Instead of rushing athletes into full throws, you’ll learn how to build strong fundamentals step by step—starting from the power position and progressing with purpose. Through simple, cost-effective drills, you’ll gain tools that help athletes understand how to use their entire body, not just their arm to throw farther and more consistently.

If you want your athletes to throw farther, stay healthy, and actually understand what they’re doing in the ring, this course gives you the blueprint.

Stop guessing. Stop rushing full throws.

The Coach

Mary Foster is a throws coach and board member of the Texas Track and Field Coaches Association. Known on Twitter/X as “Auntie Throw Something," she has coached collegiately at the University of Dallas, UNT Dallas, and SAGU (Nelson University).

After years in the collegiate ranks, she shifted her focus to developing youth throwers at the high school, junior high, and elementary levels. Mary specializes in helping beginner throws coaches understand the core principles of discus, prioritizing safety, proper progression, and teaching athletes how to feel the movement instead of just memorizing positions.
