Nathan Smith

Nathan Smith holds a master's degree in sports psychology and works with high school and college athletes in one-on-one sessions (45 minutes to an hour). He originally planned to pursue sports psychology licensure but shifted toward counseling after learning the state wouldn't allow it. He's recently begun expanding into corporate work, engaged by Jigsaw Nation (Oklahoma's second-largest employer) to work with HR staff.

Smith trains in multiple mindfulness-based approaches and uses acceptance and commitment therapy as the foundation of a roughly 10-week "mental toughness" program. He met Peter Haberl, a senior U.S. Olympic sports psychologist, at an Association for Applied Sports Psychology conference.

He also plays basketball and works as a school counselor. He met the coach who invited him to speak at a cross country camp in Sulphur, Oklahoma, where the two connected after Smith observed a team session.
