by Sean FureyDescription
This course- “R.E.S.C.U.E: Javelin technique and imagery in one process queue.” is part sport’s psychology, part javelin technique, and part training plan design.
In this 60 minute session, Coach Sean Furey from Furey Athletics will talk about process cues (a word or phrase that elicits imagery or sensations associated with high level performance) and when/how to use them. He will describe his unique acronym process cue, RESCUE, that distills his 20 year throwing career into six phrases that describes his version of the javelin throw feelings and technique. He will relate these phrases to common javelin technical models and training means.
RESCUE- (R)un downhill, (E)yes locked at a focal, (S)mooth transition to crossovers, (C)ommit to the penultimate, (U)ncork to immediate pressure, (E)nergy up behind the head.
