Dynamic Curriculum - Level 1
Jason Layton is a 2x All-American Wrestler, a 2x NAGA Brazilian Jujitsu World Champion, and a member of MENSA from Long Island, New York.
He has been a student of wrestling since 1995 and has vigorously studied the technical side of the sport. In addition to hard work, Jason attributes much of his success to the years he spent under the tutelage of coaches Chris Edmonds (Division 1 National Champion), Tom Ryan (Division 1 National Finalist), Artie Weidler (Division 3 National Champion), and Master Francisco Mansor (Brazilian Jujitsu Red Belt [9th degree] under Helio Gracie).
One-on-one wrestling instruction has been Jason’s full-time job since 2008. Jason’s coaching goals include building Division 1 national champions from the ground up, improving Long Island wrestling, building champion youth wrestlers, and sharing his technical knowledge with the rest of the world.
“Wrestling is the best thing that ever happened to me. It put my head on straight, kicked my ass, taught me to be a man, and forced me to realize that no one is coming to the rescue. I cannot possibly express how much I’ve learned about life and about myself because of wrestling. It made me tough, emotionally strong, taught me to prioritize, and it taught me the power of long term goal setting. I now know that I can achieve anything I want so long as I have a systematic plan for how to get there. There is a big difference between believing in this axiom and knowing it to be true. It is more than faith. When you finally achieve a goal that was your sole focus for years, desperately striding towards it, working through setbacks, sacrificing whatever it takes, only to finally break through your own mental barriers and finally fulfill your dream… Well you KNOW you can do it again for any other goal that you set. Wrestling is amazing for you, and everyone should do. Life is a fight, you can’t opt out of it; the sooner you learn this, the better.”
