Step 9 Standing breathing progressive skills sequence

     view description
    • After you master all the home skills you can easily learn the timing for arm stroking with your head turning to breathe by standing at the wall at a 45 degree angle so your stroking arm will not hit the wall.

By standing you can see your arms and feel the roll of your shoulders so that you can roll your head as your shoulder rolls up.  Above water you can breathe in and blow out.  Then do the same placing your head in the water to blow large bubbles that will rise up around your cheeks.

You must avoid looking forward to blow out your air.  Bubbles will go up your nose and tell your brain to lift your head up forward even more.  That action will cause your feet and legs to go down.  That makes too much resistance to tire you out too quickly.  And that leads to panic and bad results.
