Common Mistakes when Shielding
Most fighters have poor blocking or intercepting skills. They often close their eyes and shut off thier perception when being attacked. Blocking or reaching out to deflect or impede is a primal response to threat for human beings. However, this a big NO NO to do when shielding, you will simply create a line of attack or opening for your opponent to slip a strike through because of miss timing it. You must stay tight and hide your head behind your limbs while you watch every attack come at you. You must shield with the shield! Futhermore, often fighter will start shielding and let their opponent swarm them with strikes longer then they should, causing them to be put further on the defensive. Remember you cannot stay passive, you must counter, escape and turn the threat back on your opponent.
