Lesson 10:
Economy of Motion and the Focus of Force
Effective striking ability needs to focus on several global principles (economy of motion body stabilization, the line of force, focus of force) in order for you to maximize your body power and leverage. Practice striking a focus pad or mitt to determine how much penteration and power your creating.
Common mistakes often made when countering from the shield position are: trying to hit to hard which leads to telegraphing, being caught out of your fighting position, followe by poor recovery time. To avoid these liabilities focus on geting into a stable stance and hit along the correct line of force with speed and power. Penetrate 3-6 inches through the target without falling off balance, recover your hands back to a shield, staying strong through entire range of motion.
