Barry Davis, Ph.D.

Transformation, Leadership, Culture: A Qualitative Study on Elite NCAA Head Baseball Coaches

About

I have been a head baseball coach and a leader in collegiate athletics for over three decades.

A holder of 939 career wins, Davis has been instrumental in transforming three college baseball programs, winning multiple championships at the Junior College, NAIA, and Division I levels.

A four-time National Coach of the Year at Gloucester County College (NJ), and three-time Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year while at Rider University, Davis is entrenched as a consistent winner among the nation’s best coaches.

Davis also is a member of four Hall of Fames: the Gloucester County College Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame in 2012, the Bridgewater College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014 and lastly, the National Junior College Athletic Association Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2016.

A proponent of education, Davis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Bridgewater College in 1987, his master’s degree in Education from Frostburg State University in 1989, and his Ph.D. in Sports Leadership at Concordia-University in Chicago in 2019.

His in-depth research on transformation, leadership, coaching excellence and culture change assembled a foundation for elite coach selection in a pressure driven collegiate climate.

A leader in the sports industry, Davis has established himself as an expert on leadership and leadership development.

A veteran baseball clinician, Davis will present at the 2020 North American Coach Development Summit in Birmingham, Alabama and at the 2021 American Baseball Coaches Convention in Washington D.C.
