This is the Second Annual One Back Offensive Clinic. The speaker, Andrew Gochis, who had the vision to bring the clinic to Texas, begins by welcoming attendees, noting that coaches from the DFW Metroplex, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Lubbock are present. The goal of the event is to put on "one of the best offensive clinics in the entire country".
The speaker then thanks the sponsors, which include:
- Tully: Helps with the weight room by allowing kids to self-report their maximum lifts, and puts the information straight into spreadsheets for coaches.
- QwikCut: A video provider that costs $3,000 per year, compared to some others that charge $10,000 a year.
- Vertical Raise: A top fundraising company that offers high returns, as well as sales like popcorn or straight donations.
- Football U: Provides cutting-edge technology, an app that "gifys" a playbook, allowing kids to learn plays and formations by playing a game, and then sending a report to coaches.
- The Coach Pad: A tablet, similar to an iPad, created for football and all sports, which can be used for things like line-up cards and scouting reports (including uploading Huddle scouting reports).
- The Headset App: Offers an entire year of headset service for $99 a pass, which is UIL compliant for on-field play calling with in-game technology using an iPad and an Apple Watch.
The speaker shares that an originally scheduled speaker had to cancel, and an unfortunate tragedy involving a young man who lost his life due to violence in Mississippi, as well as the loss of "Coach Pride" from Byron Nelson, occurred, leading to a moment of silence. The speaker also mentions that the town of Gordon, Texas, lost their fieldhouse, weight room, field, and bleachers due to a tornado and asks for donations.
A devotional is given about the coaching profession and the title "Coach" becoming an identity, which can lead to an identity crisis and a "burden of regret".
The remainder of the video focuses on specific offensive coaching points and drills:
- Receiver Drills: The speaker demonstrates and discusses movements for 10 yards like the "shin grab," "ankle grab," and "cradle up," followed by a calf raise. Stance emphasizes "knee over toe, chest over knee," and the back leg kick-stand with 90% of the weight on the front foot.
- Cuts: Three cuts are taught: the buzz cut (for hitch, dig, comeback, and curl routes, emphasizing violent deceleration and a low pad level), the slam cut (for slant, post, corners, and combo routes, requiring a lean and look opposite), and the speed cut (for speed out, cruise, cross, drag, banana, and dig routes).
- Stock Blocking/Blocking Technique (B.A.T.): This drill, which the speaker's father coached, teaches angles and cutoff paths, starting with a cadence. Key elements include tracking the defender's hip with the eyes, checking the pad level, coming to balance two arms' length away, and striking and driving with "thumbs up" and fingers under the breastplate.
- Releases: Three releases are taught: foot fire chop/rip, a single move (jab step, chop, rip), and a double move.
- RPOs and Play Actions: The speaker shares examples of RPOs, including inside zone reads and bubble routes, and stresses coaching points such as "get movement than leverage" on blocks, and quarterback reads. A play called "Hawk" or "Street," a fast-developing deep cross route, is highly recommended as a "touchdown play". The speaker also covers max protect play action concepts, including the "glance and go" double move.
The first speaker closes with an emphasis on the importance of family, stating that a man's "number one responsibility" is to take care of his family, and that the fieldhouse should not become a substitute for that.
The next presentation is introduced by Nick Top from the Headset App, who states that he is a co-founder and explains that they created the app because traditional headset systems can cost up to $100,000. He also mentions they are rolling out a player wearable technology into the football space, building on their development in the baseball space. The next speakers are Coach Zack Birdwell and Cole Wills from Tioga, who will discuss simplifying the work week, winning in the quarterback room, and offensive line play.
