Brandon Andersen | Defensive Coordinator | Valdosta State

Before joining Valdosta State in January 2022, Brandon Andersen served as the defensive coordinator for the Mavericks under Tremaine Jackson. During the 2021 season, he led CMU to an 8-2 record, highlighted by a historic 26-21 victory over the then-No. 3-ranked Colorado School of Mines. Under Andersen's leadership, the Mavericks' defense ranked 13th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 15.6 points per game, and 10th in total defense, giving up only 258.2 yards per game. Individually, safety Damar'ren Mitchell earned AP Division II All-America Second Team honors, while defensive end Torren Calhoun and others received All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference accolades.

Before his tenure at CMU, Andersen coached linebackers at Lindenwood for three seasons, significantly improving the Lions' defensive stats and guiding players like Drew Seers and CJ Bivens to all-conference honors. He also spent several years at the University of Sioux Falls, where he contributed to the Cougars' defensive prowess and success, including a 32-5 record over three seasons and multiple postseason appearances. As a player at Sioux Falls, Andersen was a two-year starter and helped the team win two NAIA National Championships. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Sioux Falls in 2011.
