John Bowes leads the University of Dayton’s defense with a sharp football mind, deep secondary expertise, and years of experience across multiple collegiate programs. A former collegiate defensive back himself, Bowes brings both player perspective and coaching precision to his role, building defenses that are disciplined, versatile, and prepared for every situation.

Career Highlights & Coaching Journey:

• 🔴 Defensive Leader: Serves as Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach at the University of Dayton, overseeing all aspects of the Flyers' defensive game plan and secondary play.

• 🔴 Versatile Coaching Background: Has coached at New Hampshire, William & Mary, Bucknell, and Fordham, gaining valuable experience across a range of competitive conferences.

• 🔴 Player-Turned-Coach: A 2006 graduate of Catholic University, where he was a three-year starter in the secondary, bringing firsthand knowledge to his DB coaching.

• 🔴 Early Coaching Roots: Launched his coaching career at Catholic University before serving as a Graduate Assistant at Clarion University, setting the foundation for his defensive philosophy.

• 🔴 Defensive Strategist: Recognized for crafting effective, adaptable defensive schemes and developing players who thrive in complex coverage systems.
