Lessons
The Coach
Marcus Woodson serves as the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks, a position he has held since 2023. In this role, he collaborates in overseeing the defensive unit, focusing on developing the secondary and implementing defensive strategies.
Before joining Arkansas, Woodson was the defensive backs coach at Florida State University from 2020 to 2022, where he was instrumental in enhancing the performance of the Seminoles' secondary. Prior to that, he served as the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Auburn University during the 2019 season, contributing to both player development and talent acquisition.
Woodson's coaching career began at Millsaps College (2005–2008) as the defensive backs coach, followed by a tenure at Charleston Southern University (2009–2013) in a similar capacity, where he also took on the role of recruiting coordinator. He further honed his coaching skills at Fresno State University (2014–2015) and the University of Memphis (2016–2017), focusing on defensive backs at both institutions.
A native of Moss Point, Mississippi, Woodson played safety at Ole Miss from 1999 to 2002, starting for two seasons before an injury concluded his playing career. His early exposure to high-level collegiate play has informed his coaching philosophy and approach to player development.
Throughout his career, Woodson has been recognized for his defensive acumen, recruiting prowess, and commitment to fostering player growth both on and off the field.
