The Coach

Coach Anthony Veney brings over 40 years of extensive track and field coaching and teaching experience to his role as the new Men’s and Women’s Track & Field head coach at Antelope Valley College. As a nationally certified instructor and lecturer, Veney's credentials include coaching at all competition levels, from high school to NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3, as well as national and international competitions. Prior to joining Antelope Valley College Athletics, Veney coached members of the Chinese national team 400 meter sprinters, achieving notable success with 1 silver in the men’s 400m, 1 gold in the mixed 4x400m relay, and gold medals in the men and women’s 4x400m relays. Veney has also coached at prestigious institutions such as UCLA, University of Oregon, and Portland State, contributing to significant achievements including a no. 9 national ranking for the Oregon Ducks men’s outdoor track and field team.

Notably, he coached 25 All-Conference and All-Americans at Portland State and 15 indoor/outdoor All-Americans at UCLA, including the 2009 Pac-10 4×100 meter relay championship team. Veney's accolades extend beyond coaching, as he holds a Master’s Degree in physical education from Azusa Pacific University and has been recognized with the Fred Wilt Coach/Educator of the Year Award by USA Track & Field in 2017.
