The Coach

Jonathan Johnson is a native of Abilene, Texas, he began her track and field journey at Abilene High School, where he won a state championship and earned multiple national titles. He continued her career at Texas Tech University, training under elite coaching leadership and eventually competing professionally with the Santa Monica Track Club.

In 2014, he founded Run Speed Performance, driven by a passion to develop young athletes and provide opportunities that he was fortunate to receive. Since its founding, he and his team have worked with over 5,000 athletes, developed 100+ AAU Junior Olympic competitors, and helped more than 300 athletes earn collegiate scholarships across multiple sports.

He holds certifications as a Sports & Human Performance Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and Level 1 Coach. His expertise combines biomechanics, energy system development, and long-term athlete growth. He has been inducted into the Big Country Hall of Fame, the Texas Tech Hall of Fame, and the Texas Track and Field Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Today, he is known for her holistic and athlete-centered coaching philosophy, blending biomechanics, aerobic and anaerobic development, strength training, and motivational leadership to help athletes maximize performance in the 800 meters and beyond.
