    Small Ball Soft Toss

     view description
    • Set-up:
      • The tosser kneels down, facing the hitter.
      • The tosser will toss the golf-size wiffle ball waist high, out in front of the hitter, in  the same spot where the tee was placed for an up-the-middle pitch. The toss is very important because if the toss is off-location, then it will cause the batter to change her swing or move her feet during the swing.
      • The hitter will make contact with the ball at the top of the arc of the ball's path before the ball starts going back down toward the ground.
      • Minimize the distance between the tosser and hitter, but make sure you are totally clear of the bat as the batter swings.
      • Variation: Instead of golf-size wiffle balls, use big marshmallows.
      • Have the batter take 10-15 swings, then switch with her partner.
