Soft Toss Numbered or Colored Balls

     view description
    • Set-up:
      • The tosser kneels down, facing the hitter.
      • The tosser will toss the ball waist high, out in front of the hitter, in the same spot where the tee was placed for an up-the-middle pitch. The toss is very important because if the toss if off location, then it will cause the batter to change her swing or move her feet during the swing.
      • The hitter will make contact with the ball at the top of the arc of the ball's path, before the ball starts going back down toward the ground.
      • Keep the distance between the tosser and hitter as small as possible, but make sure you are totally clear of the bat when the batter swings.
      • Instead of tossing a regular ball, toss a ball with a number on it and the player has to call out what number is on the ball as she is hitting it.
      • Alternatively, the tosser can toss two different colored balls and call out a color and the batter has to hit the color ball that the tosser called out.
