    • The Straight Slide
      • Teach your ballplayers the figure four position. Players should tuck their right ankles behind their left knees to create the number "4". 
      • Get your ballplayers on the ground to let them practice the figure four position. Explain to them that their elbows should be loose and close to their bodies with their hands and elbows off the ground.  
      • Players should hold dirt, or batting gloves, in their hands to keep their fists together so they don't slide on their open hands (possibly allowing them to break a finger or scratch up their elbows. 
      • Have players start in slow motion to make sure they are using proper form.
