Spread Pick and Roll Offenseby Matt McCallViews: 5740$14.95
The pick and roll has been a staple piece of basketball mechanics.
What is it? And why is it so effective?
The offensive play of the pick and roll is the action of a teammate putting their body in front of the defender who guards the player coordinating the offense. The player with the basketball moves towards the pick once the pick has been set, so the defender cannot follow them. Resulting in a lane to the basket or pass to an open teammate.
However, pick and rolls are commonly thought of as screens. Although there isn't a significant difference, when referring to an on-ball screen, the term pick is generally used, whereas the term screen could refer either to an off-ball screen or to an on-ball screen.
Its success came from the mid 1950’s when a vast majority of players were able to create a mismatch and drive to the basket or settle for a mid range jump shot. That's all there was to do, it wasn't until the three point shot was introduced in the 80’s. Fast forward to today's game, and you’ll quickly learn it's become a shooters league. Although the pick and roll is still widely used, teams seek to shoot behind the three point line. Creating the Spread Pick and Roll.
The Spread Pick and Roll is essentially the same. As the three off-ball players are all outside the three-point arc, a 'spread pick and roll' involves using a ball-screen action to create the opening. ... Defenders will have difficulty getting off their player in this variation without giving up an open three-point shot. When teams have 3 players who are able to shoot the basketball at a high percentage around the pick and roll, this tactic is very effective.
In this lesson, Coach Matt McCall discusses the 4 main points to make the spread pick and roll offense work. He teaches transitions and goes over numerous scenarios where the offense can get easy points. The spread pick and roll offense is a continuity offense that relies on ball and player movement, looking to get a result of two players on the ball and/or a two on one advantage situation for the offense.

Transition Offenseby Matt McCallViews: 1402$14.99
Transitional offense is a force to be reckoned with.
But first, what is a transitional offense and what are the benefits?
The standard transitional offense is usually In a fast-break opportunity, the play begins when the defending team gains possession of the ball and passes it to the fastest player, who begins the fast break. The rebounding player passes the ball to the smaller point guard who dribbles up the court with several players following on the wings.
An offense can gain an advantage first by pushing in transition, setting up the tempo. A fast break forces the defense to get matched up quickly by pushing it ahead of the defense instead of waiting for them to set. This style of play is a tactical action that takes advantage of defensive unorganization.
Many teams don't have great fast break defense because it's difficult to contain. It gives you the upper hand on a three versus two or two versus one play. It can be one of the easiest ways to create scoring opportunities, if done correctly.
There are many advantages and benefits to a team who are a threat on transition. Teams that run the fast break efficiently are tough to prepare for due to the fact that it's difficult stopping something that's already full steam ahead. Throughout the course of a game, the transitional offense tears and wears down opposing teams. It's simply a go go offense. You can dictate the tempo of the game and have the opposing team playing your style of play.
This style of play can develop and improve any team, elevate their scoring and overall results. Matt McCall has studied and practiced the art of transitional offense. After only a year, McCall’s team ranked fifth in scoring among the A-10. Any coach who implements an effective fast break offense will find success.
In this course, Coach Matt McCall discusses the practices he implemented to improve the transition game of his game. He breaks down the beneficial aspects of giving players freedom, how to work with the personnel available and an in depth detail of the fast break drill. Plus much more!
