Matt McCall

Head Coach at UMass

About

Matt McCall has been the University of Massachusetts men's basketball head coach since March 2017. While at UMass, McCall has been improving every year, improving win totals and achieving higher seeds in the Atlantic 10 Conference. In 2020-21 McCall captained the Minutemen to the fifth seed, their highest seed since 2008. Coach McCall was previously the head coach at Chattanooga where he led the squad to a 48-18 record over two seasons. Also while with the Moc’s, McCall was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year in 2017, won the SoCon Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. McCall also worked for the Florida Gators program and amassed four SEC titles, four SEC Tournament titles, two Elite Eights, a Final Four, and two NCAA titles. While a member of the FAU program as an assistant, McCall was part of a Sun Belt Regular Season Championship and an NIT First Round Appearance.

McCall is married to his wife Allison and has two daughters, Brooklyn and Kylie. He earned his undergraduate and master’s degree in exercise and sports science from Florida in 2004 and 2006, respectively.
