Cox is in his 15th year coaching high school football, and his 2nd year as the offensive coordinator at Alice High School. He is a 2010 graduate of Hardin-Simmons University — in Abilene, Texas — where he was a four year letter winner for the Cowboy Football program.

The 2024 Coyote football team finished the season as undefeated District 15-5A Champions, Bi-District Champions, and Area finalists. The 2023 and 2024 district titles were the first consecutive district championships in nearly four decades for the Alice football program. Under Cox’s watch, the 2024 Coyote offense averaged 34.5 points per game through league play. The 2024 offensive unit amassed over 2,000 yards both rushing, and passing, the football. Lucian Cruz (QB) earned district MVP honors, Vinson Beck (OL) was tabbed the district’s most valuable offensive lineman, and Jamarion Peterson (WR) was named the district’s utility player of the year.

In Cox’s first season at Alice, the 2023 Coyote football team finished the season as undefeated District 16-4A Champions, Bi-District Champions, Area Champions, and Regional finalists. The 2023 team also won back to back Thomas J. Henry Friday Night Fever Games of the Week. The 2023 offensive unit averaged 35.5 points per game and finished the season with over 2,300 yards both rushing, and passing, the football. Justin Arellano (WR) was named the district’s MVP, Lucian Cruz (QB) earned district newcomer of the year, Diego Trevino (Center) was tabbed the district’s most valuable offensive lineman, and Landon Rodriguez (WR) and Matt Carrillo (WR) were named the district’s most valuable receiver and the district’s utility player of the year.

Before coming to Alice, Coach Cox spent ten seasons at Refugio ISD. The first three seasons as the passing game coordinator, coaching quarterbacks and receivers, and seven seasons as the offensive coordinator. The Bobcats reached the UIL football state finals in six of Cox’s ten seasons on staff, winning the State Championship in 2016 and 2019. Jacobe Avery (QB, 2016) and Austin Ochoa (QB, 2019) earned state championship MVP honors.

Prior to his time at Refugio, Cox spent three seasons coaching at Columbus ISD and Anson ISD.

Cox lives in Alice with his wife, Emilee. They have two children together - Camden and Enslee. Cox’s father, Drew, is the head football coach at Refugio, and is a 41 year high school coaching veteran.
