In this course, Sue Humphrey provides a comprehensive guide to helping high school coaches plan and structure training for jumpers and sprinters from pre-season conditioning to competition. Learn how to identify promising athletes, keep them engaged, and transition them into track-specific workouts. This course also covers balancing early-season training with meets, developing proper sprinting and jumping techniques, and preparing athletes to reach peak performance.

The Coach

Sue Humphrey is currently working on Arizona. She has over 50 years of coaching experience track and field with male and female athletes of all ages. She began her career working with elementary school girls in Phoenix, AZ. She branched out to coaching high school age females before school track programs for girls were approved. When Title IX became law, Arizona State University approached Humphrey about coaching their new women’s program. After success at ASU, she went on to coach collegiately at California State University-Long Beach and The University of Texas at Austin.

Internationally, Humphrey represented the USA by leading the USA Women’s Olympic Track & Field Team in 2004. In addition, she served on the 1992- and 1996-Women’s USA Olympic Track & Field Team. There’s no one with more experience to provide a blueprint of how to learn to run, hurdle, and run relays.
