Entering his seventh season with the University of Arizona, Coach TJ Crater has made a significant impact on the Wildcats' throwing program. With a proven track record of developing elite athletes, he has coached multiple school record holders, NCAA All-Americans, and Olympic Trials qualifiers. 

Career Achievements:

  • University of Arizona (2017-Present)

    • Coached multiple NCAA All-Americans, conference champions, and Olympic Trials qualifiers.
    • Led Jordan Geist to a 2021 Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Year title and a Top-10 U.S. Olympic Trials finish in shot put.
    • Guided Samantha Noennig to Pac-12 and NCAA shot put titles and an Olympic Trials final appearance.
    • Developed Israel Oloyede into an NCAA Indoor Runner-Up and school record holder in weight throw and hammer throw.
    • Helped Kaelyn Shipley break the Arizona javelin throw record (50.20m).
    • Mentored numerous Pac-12 champions and NCAA qualifiers in shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin.
  • University of Washington (2014-2017)

    • Coached five NCAA Championship qualifiers in men's javelin.
    • Developed Quinn Hale, who finished fifth at the 2014 NCAA Championships in javelin.
    • Trained Gina Flint, Washington's first Pac-12 shot put scorer since 2004.

    • 2007 USTFCCCA Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year.
    • Coached 10 NCAA qualifiers with nine earning All-America honors.
