Jack Sands enters his second year as Head Track Coach at Klein High School in Houston, with 43 years of coaching experience, 37 as a Head Coach. He's led teams to a State Championship win, secured Runner-Up positions twice, and achieved Top 10 finishes at State 12 times.

Additionally, Sands has contributed to four Regional Championship teams and 15 District Championship teams. Recognized for his coaching prowess, Sands has been honored three times as Coach of the Year by the Gulf Coast Scholastic Track Coaches Association.

Post-retirement from full-time teaching, he earned the distinction of Assistant Coach of the Year twice. Throughout his esteemed career, Sands has mentored Olympians, NCAA All-Americans, and National High School Champions, elevating the standard of track and field in his community.

Along with the above accomplishments, Coach Sands has coached:

– 2 Olympians (One a Gold & Bronze Medalist)

– 13 Division 1 NCAA All-Americans

– 4 National High school Champions

– 4 athletes who have represented the USA in international competitions

– 13 State Champions

– over 50 State Medalists

– 4 National leading relays – at Klein Forest High School, his 4×100 Relays ran below 42.0 24 years in a row with an average of 41.3

– his 4×400 relays have run 3:20 or better for 26 of the last 30 years (from 1995 -2008 they averaged 3:15.78)
