    1-foot glide forward and backward

     view description
    • In this video I am going to show you how to do 1-foot glide forward and backward. To practice the backwards one foot glide you need to gain some speed with either backward skating (backward swizzles or backward wiggles). Your aim is to get enough backwards speed so you can do a backwards 2-foot glide with confidence, with your feet close together, knees bent, back straight, head up looking at some distant point, arms out to the side at just below waist level, hands just forward of your waist. When you can do the 2-foot glide, you can then progress to lifting one your foot off the ice, just a small lift will suffice to start with, try to keep your foot horizontal and just slide it up your skating leg to start with.
