Lesson 3:
Forward and Backward swizzles
Welcome to the world of figure skating!
In just 45 minutes, you will learn the basics of figure skating and build some new skills.
Let’s get started with swizzles. The swizzle is a basic step that all skaters learn in the beginning. Start by placing your blades in a "V" formation with your heels touching. Using the inside edges of your blades, push both your feet outwards, then inwards so that your toes are touching. As you do this, make sure to bend your knees. This is a great exercise to get your knees more flexible and stronger for other ice skating techniques.
