Lesson 40:
A Situation 20 Legal Put Out
Situation # 20: Tag
Just when you think you’ve seen it all…it happens! The unimaginable! Take this play for example: The ball is hit hard back to the pitcher…he makes a nice play but that’s when his problem begins…..
The ball was his hit so hard that it stuck between the fingers of his glove and he can’t get it out…and time’s running out. So what to do? Throw the whole package to first and let the umpire decide…..
As long as the first baseman has firm and secure possession of the glove holding the ball while in contact with the base, the batter is out. Under professional rules, this is a legal tag.
