Bob Starkey

Assistant Coach for Auburn Women's Basketball

Bob Starkey, is one of the top minds in college basketball and is currently a member of the Auburn Women’s Basketball program as an assistant coach. Coach Starkey brings more than 30 years of SEC experience to Auburn, and was previously an assistant at Texas A&M, being part of an SEC regular-season title.

Starkey is a true basketball veteran, having been a part of 780 collegiate victories, 24 NCAA Tournaments berths, eight trips to the Elite Eight, and five trips to the Women's Final Four (2004-08), including one run to the Final Four as interim Head Coach for LSU in 2007.

Starkey, who considers himself a full-time student of the game, has written numerous articles and has authored such basketball books as The 2-3 Match-Up Defense and Motion Offense. His latest project is a Basketball Coaching Series of books that include The Art of Being An Assistant Coach, The Art of Scouting, and The Art of Motivation. Starkey has affected many careers in his time, including Shaquille O'Neal, Seimone Augustus, Sylvia Fowles, Chris Jackson, and Kelsey Bone.
