    • Straddles & Splits
      • Straddles and splits are cheerleading moves that require a lot of practice.
      • Splits- Place hands at the sides, separate legs and slide down until the hands touch the floor.
      • If a cheerleader cannot go all the way down, have her go as far as possible.
      • The back knee should be facing down and the front knee should be facing up.
      • Hands should be on the floor and the chest should be straight and facing forward.
      • Straddles- Lean forward, place both hands on the ground and slide legs out.
      • Knees should be facing up.
      • As a cheerleader progresses, put elbows on the ground and slide all the way down.
      • Make sure that when you are performing these skills to push yourself to gain flexibility, but not to a point where it hurts.
      • Hold each stretch for a minimum of 10 seconds.
