- Objective
  
  To time the 'go' run so as to be running at full pace while still being onside when the midfielder plays the ball.
  
  Coaching Points
  
  Look across the line of defenders to stay onside. Indicate to the passing player where you want the ball to be played. Be at full speed when the pass is played and look over your shoulder to gauge the path of the ball.
  
  Problems to Watch Out For
  
  The striker laying the ball too straight to the midfielder. The striker not curving the run enough, which prevents a through ball at a correct angle.
  
  Why This Works
  
  Most simple and effective combination to penetrate the defensive line.
