    Stepover Run for a Give-and-Go

     view description
    • Objective

      To pull Defender #1 out of position and enable Striker #1 to get in behind for a scoring chance.

      Coaching Points

      Communication and execution at a very quick pace are important. Striker #1 must be convincing in going to the pass, using a big shoulder fake before his stepover.

      Problems to Watch Out For

      The first pass is not played in with enough speed. The striker's stepover is not realistic enough to fool the defender.

      Why This Works

      Builds an understanding between strikers: 'Intuition.'

      S1 = STRIKER #1 (STEPOVER STRIKER)

      S2 = STRIKER #2 (RECEIVING STRIKER)

      M = MIDFIELDER

      D1 = DEFENDER

      D2 = DEFENDER

      GK = GOALKEEPER
