Lesson 17:
Ch 17 Shallow to deep water progression
By now you should have swum many widths without ever touching the bottom in shallow water. So it will not matter how deep the water becomes if you swim the same way. The best way to get used to deeper water is to swim across the corner only half the distance you were used to in the shallow area. Focus on good mechanics at all times and keep your mind off the depth. It’s always wise to notify the lifeguards on your intentions and practice this when the pool is not crowded.
Do not enter into the deep water until you can swim at least 30-50 feet across the pool or lake in the shallow end without touching the bottom.
