    Gate Ball Drill

     view description
    • Gate Ball Drill:
The purpose of the drill is for players to practice two-touch receiving and passing, as well as good communication skills.

Objective: Players accurately pass a ball through a gate to their partners without hitting any cones. The receiving players use their first touch to control the ball and set it up for a pass on the next touch. After three successful passes, players move to the next gate and repeat.
Players can practice using the same foot for receiving and passing, as well as one foot for receiving and the other for passing.

Progression: Add competition to the drill by keeping score for one minute. Three accurate passes between a pair counts as one point; a hit cone deducts one point.

Technical notes: Receiving players use their first touch to control the ball and set it up for a pass on the next touch. Passes are still made by cleanly striking the ball dead-center and positioning the non-kicking foot beside the ball. Players can practice using the same foot for receiving and passing, as well as one foot for receiving and the other for passing.
