Lesson 13:
13. Reverse Pivot
The Use of the Reverse Pivot helps when you have a bigger post player defending.
Or you need another counter because the defense is taking away a certain move.
Or a defender is playing off and in the lane. You want to draw the defender out. The use of the reverse pivot, facing the basket and use of the shot fake will make the defender come toward the ball.
Pivoting away allows a player to use quickness and speed to get to the basket.
1. Wide Base.
Use a wide base to stay balanced and ball chinned.
2. Complete Turn. To make an effective move turn and face the basket to force the defense to respect the move.
3. Use Fakes. Since you are now facing the defender, you want to get the defender off balance. You can use Shot fake, Ball Fake or foot fake. There are a lot of coaches who would say don't use foot fakes if you are a young player, but with practice, you can make the foot fake a big part of your arsenal.
Part of being an effective post player is being able to score against bigger post players. The Reverse Pivot does that and sets you up to Score More Points in the Post.
