    • To Score, More Points in the Post understand GETTING POSITION.
GETTING POSITION means putting yourself in a passing lane with your teammate who has the ball or will receive the ball.
A passing lane means there is a direct path for the basketball to go between the passer and receiver. If a defender can get their hand or body in the passing lane, then you must improve the angle and lane for the passer.
You can also work on GETTING POSITION to receive the pass from a teammate that does not yet have the ball. So setting up to get the next pass by holding a seal in the direction of that teammate without the ball.
The teaching points for Getting Position are:
      1. Footwork. All of the great post players have great footwork. Because GETTING POSITION involves quality movement, your feet are important. Stay on the balls of your feet anticipating the next move. Then keep the feet in a wide base to give a solid foundation.
      2. Hips. The hips will allow you to seal out a defender. Sealing out means you are keeping the defender out of the passing lane. Getting a defender on your hip and then keep them there. You want to keep contact with the defender by moving the hips and your rear. This allows you to seal the defender.
      3. Arms. This is another overlooked area. Keeping both arms and hands up. When Posting up, we want both hands up so it gives the teammate a target and having both hands up so an official will see them. Posting with one arm and the official can't see the other arm you will put yourself in position to be called for an offensive foul.
Learn how to GET POSITION, and you will be Scoring More Points In The Post.
