    Horsey Drill

    • Horsey Drill

This drill is designed to teach players how to dodge and throw the ball back in 3 different ways. Most of the youth player probably can only do "Circle Throw Back," but they may be able to "Slice," and "Step back and throw back."

      Set Up:
      • Middies
        • Lines approximately hash mark and timeline intersection
        • Place a cone about 5 yards above the timeline(closer to midline) on Rydo line
        • Balls with the lines
      • Attack
        • Lines approximately hash mark and end line
        • Place a cone on Rydo line about 3 yards from the endline, inbounds
        • Balls with the line
      Drill:
      • First player starts with the ball at the cone, he dodges lefty, he drives to GLE (attack), or to 12 yards above GLE (middies)
      • He then circle and throws back to the cone
      • When the first player is driving lefty a player from the opposite line runs to the cone
      • When player at the cones catches the ball, he drives opposite from where ball came from
      • Repeat above; for Circle Throw Back, Slice, Step Back Throw Back
      • Switch Lines after you do each 3-5 times.
      Issues:
      • Players who run to the cone should be in Triple Threat position; square to goal, feet set, to catch going down hill
      • Players who are dodging change hands after the finish circling, not before
      • Make sure players are circling and not completing a COD or spin dodge
      • Place cones where you want the dodge to stop and then a trash can you want them to run around
