    • Weave and Straight Line Drills

These are full field running and throwing drills, more open field skills. Very good end of practice Disguised Running.

      Weave

      Set Up:
      • Start players at (1) Rydo line endline, (2-3) restraining line and endline, at one end of field
      • Balls must be in and start in the middle line
      Drill:
      • While running forward, middle line throws to one side or the other
      • Whichever line you throw to you must then run behind.
      • Catchers run toward Rydo line and throw to opposite way ball came to them
      • Repeat all the way down the field to far endline
      Issues:
      • Players will get very close to one another
      • Missed passes and getting ball back to continue pattern
      • Make each player get wider than the restraining lines; put up cones if you must
      • They will slow down to a jog
      Adjustments:
      • Do they shoot at the far end?
      • Endline to Endline or GLE to GLE
      • How many passes can you make

      Straight Lines

      Set Up:
      • Start players at (1) Rydo line endline, (2-3) restraining line and endline, at one end of field
      • Balls should start in the middle line
      Drill:
      • Players run the length of the field in a straight line; Rydo down Rydo, restraining lines down restraining lines
      • Repeat all the way down the field to far endline
      Issues:
      • Players will get very close to one another
      • They will slow down to a jog
      Adjustments:
      • Do they shoot at the far end?
      • Endline to Endline or GLE to GLE
      • Change hands or not to change hands
      • Stay with strong hand or go with outside hand: sticks up field
      • If you go with strong hand, then players when throwing with their inside hand must turn their shoulders greatly to make a good pass.

Skills & Drills for Lacrosse

Presented are a variety of drills to improve individual skills for the beginner and the accomplished players. Many of these drills we use with our 3rd graders and we used when coaching college players. Each drill is designed to improve a specific skill from groundballs, offense, defense, and other.
