Coach Jim Aikens runs us through his process when training a new athlete in the skills required for the Shot Put. In this talk, he specifically is speaking in reference to the Glide Shot Put Technique. Cpoach Aikens will go through the complete process in teaching the glide technique to any athlete. He uses a simple and effective progression that will have athletes throwing with the glide technique in one session. Coach Aikens also goes over more advanced drills for the glide that can be used to improve more experinced throwers. He also goes over some faults and corrections for the glide shot putter.

Coach Jim Aikens walks us through his experience with running a very successful High School Throws Program and provides tips for new coaches on how they can form their training to achieve similar results. Coach Aikens will take you through his planning of the high school season. His plans will take you through montly, weekly & daily planning for your throwers. This is coach Aikens complete program including drills, lifting, periodization and his philosophy on coaching high school throwers. Coach Aikens also goes through his "Daily Drills" that have laid the foundation for the success of his program. This is a must for high school throws coaches.

In this course Coach Aikens goes over eight of the most common errors he has experienced while working with high school rotational throwers. He has broken the errors down to four in the back of the ring, two in the middle of the ring and two in the front of the ring. Coach Aikens also provides multiple drills to help correct these common errors. These errors apply to both shot put & discus throwers.

In this course Coach Aikens will go through the glide technique for throwing the shot put.  Coach Aikens breaks the technique down to easy to follow positions and movements. Coach Aikens then also shows you multiple drills to follow to help master these positions & movements.  This course will be valuable for both the beginner and advanced glide shot putter.

In this course Coach Aikens takes you through specific rotational shot put drills that will help to develop the more advanced thrower. Coach Aikens has used these drills to help take his throwers to the next level. Five of coach Aikens throwers have thrown over 61 feet and to many to count have thrown over 55 feet and they all used these drills.

Join champion-making Jim Aikens, head track coach & throws coach  William Fremd High School in Palatine, Illinois (currently coaches at Burlington Central H.S., Hampshire, IL.) as he teaches you the rotational shot putting technique that has helped many of his athletes become champions.  Coach Aikens takes you through the entire technique from the balanced double support position in the back of the ring to the explosive double pivot delivery at the front of the ring.  This lesson also contains a technical breakdown of one of Coach Aikens championship throwers to help you see how the entire technique fits together.

In this course you will learn the drills  & skills to help you master the power position and develop a great stand throw in shot put.  Over 80% of the distance in the glide throw comes from the power position at the end of the throw. So when you improve on this aspect of your throw your distances will drastically improve.
