Lesson 2:
Challange Wheels
Wheels are the pivot movement that happens in the transition movement from the back of the ring to the front of the ring. In this movement the thrower must maintain balance over their pivoting foot. Once the athlete has developed the basic skill of pivoting from the back to the front of the ring in order to develop even better balance and the ability to stay on that pivot foot this drill is used.
Process: The athlete assumes the middle of the ring position. The coach will then randomly call out how many degrees the athlete should pivot . For example if the coach says 180 degrees the athlete will go from facing the front of the ring to facing the back of the ring. The coach can call out any degree turn 90, 190, 270 or 360.
