    Crossover Circle Drill

    • Crossover Circle Drill

Position up to three players around each of the circles on the rink and they're simply going to skate around the circle at about half speed, doing their crossovers.

As they skate, keep an eye on their crossed-over foot and emphasize that you want them to be pushing off that foot. It's the way hockey players maintain speed in their turns.

Just like most of our skating drills, you'll want them doing this drill in both directions, so they become confident and comfortable crossing over with both legs.

      Coaching Tip:

Again, you're going to want to emphasize technique over speed in this drill. Learning at a slower speed will help players develop the technique and will eliminate the possibility of bad habits.
