Lesson 10:
The Superman Slide
The Superman Slide
The Superman Slide is tremendously popular with young players and has the benefit of teaching them how to get up quickly while they are sliding across the ice.
Have your players line up and, one at a time, take a few strides and then slide on their bellies for a while (like Superman) before getting back on their feet.
Just like in the stationary drill for getting up, you want to emphasize that players have two hands on the stick, head up and one knee up as they get back on their feet and skate through in a hockey position.
