    Kick-Ups

     view description
    • Kick-Ups

Younger players often want to kick at the puck with the toe of their skate and that's easy to correct, simply by showing them how to turn their foot sideways and use the broad side of the blade of their skate.

In this drill, we'll start off in a stationary position; just having the players move the puck into their skates with their stick, then kick it back to their stick.

Then we'll put them in motion, again having them leave the puck in their skates and kick it back to their stick while they're moving.

      Coaching Tip:

While your players are doing this drill, keep on them to use both feet, both stationary and moving. You also can take the sticks out of the drill and make your players run this drill playing hockey with their feet!
