    The Hockey Ready Position

     view description
    • The Hockey Ready Position:

Players should have their knees bent and over the toes, and in line with the chest, with the head up.

If you place a stick in front of the player, it ideally should touch their toe, knee, chest and forehead.

In this balanced position, players will be able to shift backward, forward, and side to side when they react effectively to everything the game throws at them.

      Coaching Tip:

It is important that your athletes know the ready position and that you start each drill with a reminder of "hockey position" or "Let me see you in your hockey position". That will help players get used to being in that position and build the muscle memory for future use.
