Week Two: Advanced Dribbling Skills

Your players have learned so much already. Keep up the good work!
This week introduces several advanced dribbling techniques that players can use to beat their defenders in both even-strength and advantage game situations. New concepts such as multi-directional dribbling, teammate spacing, ball-shielding and juke moves will help your players to attack the defense and to maintain possession in the face of defensive pressure. These drills will build upon the basic dribbling concepts that we looked at last week, so make sure your team is ready to move forward before you introduce them to new skills. Remember that diagrams are available for almost every drill to help familiarize you and your team with the many different concepts that we look at throughout the weeks.
As your season progresses, take time with your team to review skills from earlier weeks in addition to introducing new concepts. Repetition of key skills helps young players to develop muscle memory and to build confidence using the techniques they are learning. Look in the introduction section of each week for a list of drills and tips that we recommended reviewing along with that week's lesson.
