    Two-Headed Monster Drill

     view description
    • Two-Headed Monster Drill:
      • This drill helps players to practice passing and receiving in a game-like environment. Secondarily, to practice defending and shooting.
      • Progression: The four attacking players attempt to string together 10 passes inside the area. This earns the attackers one point. If the Two-Headed Monster intercepts a pass or steals the ball from an attacker, this pair splits apart and attempts to score in one of the mini-goals.
      • Play short games and rotate players often because this can be a tiring drill for the Two-Headed Monster.
      • Through drills like Two-Headed Monster, players can progress their first-touch receiving skills. Each part of this skill builds on the previous part. The fundamental first-touch skill is to cushion and control the ball.
      • Next, players cushion and control the ball in a way that sets them up for the next touch, which is a pass. The next part is to take the first touch away from any defensive pressure. In this drill, for example, this is a touch away from the Two-Headed Monster.
      • Finally, players take the first touch in a way that sets themselves up for a pass to an open teammate. In Two-Headed Monster, this is a touch that permits a safe pass to a fellow attacker.
