- This is the only pitch in which the step is across the pitcher's imaginary line.
  
  For a right-hander, the stride step is toward the right of the mound.
  
  Stay straight on line with the pitching arm.
  
  Release at the hip, follow through to the left hip (for a right-hander).
  
  Tip: You want your pitcher's finger tips to be up toward the sky when releasing. It's almost as if a flat board is under the pitcher's hand and the hand is running parallel above it. Start the spin at the right hip for righties and finish to the belly button or opposite hip.
