- Come through the pitch and release at the hip.
  
  The pitcher's fingers should come straight up to the shoulder.
  
  The elbow should stay down, almost pointing toward the ground.
  
  This creates a tight spin on the ball.
  
  Tip: Pitchers want to follow through on a pitch, staying in a line with the catcher. The follow-through is up and down, not across the body. The fingers should be high and the elbow pointed down.
