- Rise:
  Find the backwards C.
  Line up the middle finger on the inside part of the seam.
  Keep the ball a finger's width off the palm, holding in the finger tips.
  The pointer finger is in the middle of the C on the ball, off the seam.
  A pitcher can tuck the pointer finger for more spin.
  The thumb is on the seams below the C.
  
  Curve ball:
  Hand placement is the same.
  The finger is always tucked.
  The palm is always off the ball, gripping with finger tips.
