- Push out with the lead leg.
  
  Drag the top toe to the back of the plant foot.
  
  Plant the foot at a 45-degree angle.
  
  Either keep the foot down, or bring the drag leg up to a figure four against the plant leg.
  
  The pitcher should be balanced with her weight forward on release.
  
  Tip: Open the hips, rotate the body and move the plant leg at a 45-degree angle. As the pitcher releases the ball, the hips follow. The back leg should push forward, dragging behind the pitcher and finishing to the back of her plant leg.
