    One-Handed Catches

     view description
    • The hand should not be placed far down the lacrosse stick because it makes it harder to catch the ball and leaves room for error.

Make sure the hand is all the way up near the plastic of the stick to ensure ball control.

As players catch the ball, bring the stick close to the body to protect the ball.

Be sure to practice this drill with both right and left hands. Increase speed as the accuracy improves.

      Tips:
Stress that the hand is all the way up to the plastic of the stick. This will help to teach soft hands and the concept "stick-body-man."
Make sure to have the stick parallel to the body.
